School’s Global Dimension Policy
Introduction
The Global dimension has always been an integral part of our policy. The entire world is a family and Bachpan Family has extended its dimensions to include as many people from different nations in this family as possible.
Rationale
Recent advances in technology have made the world a much smaller place. Global issues are becoming local issues through massive inputs from omnipresent information channels. The younger generation today is more receptive to fast pace of changes in the world than even before. Therefore there is a greater need to equip our youngsters with skills to communicate and develop better understanding and tolerance towards diverse cultures of the world. Bachpan Pre-Primary & Primary School recognizes the need for broadening the horizons of its pupils. Our youngsters should be able to gauge the issues and develop a wider perspective. Our Global School Partnership with Schools in UK, France, Japan & South Africa is a valuable tool for realizing the objectives mentioned below.
Aims
- To promote a global dimension within our respective school curriculum.
- To develop communication skills, creative & critical thinking, taking & sharing responsibility, and participation & collaboration amongst students who are the citizens of our global village, through a range of media – ICT/writing/drawing.
- To raise awareness of global development issues amongst students and equip them with the skills, knowledge & attitudes relevant to their future, as active global citizens.
- To understand the concepts of citizenship, interdependence, values & perceptions and. sustainable development.
- Understanding and respecting diversities between peoples, cultures and environments.
- To broaden & deepen professional expertise and commitment to global dimensions goal by exposing staff to very different learning and teaching contexts.
Global Partnerships
Bachpan has been lucky enough to contact, connect and collaborate with partner schools in various parts of the world. Through the Global School Partnerships (GSP) it aims to motivate young students’ commitment to a fairer, more sustainable world. Reciprocal Visits
Reciprocal visits are an integral part of our Global Dimension Policy . It play a beneficial role in cementing the relationship between the partnered schools which itself is a two-way exchange where students and staff in both the schools are benefitted. These personal visits give a ‘value added’ impact on students and the teachers and brings a significant change in awareness, attitudes and behaviours of both. Teachers get a chance for their professional development too. Students get a deeper understanding of a wider range of global issues, respect differences and similarities between two cultures , celebrate the ethnic diversity to have a broader understanding of solutions to these global issues with more positive attitudes, learn to plan and manage things independently and see the things in person and get acquainted to the global world nicely. Bachpan Southroyd‘s partnership is almost a decade old. Mentioned below are list of all the persons to and from Bachpan who have been a part of these visits and benefitted a lot.
